Austin’s Artisan Bistro Presents Bastille Day Celebration
Experience French Food, Music, and Culture in the Heart of Lakeway

Mention Independence Day to a typical Texan, and he’ll imagine fireworks, beers, and barbecue—but not Cesidio d’Andrea. To this transplanted French chef, now an Austinite, Independence Day means Bastille Day: traditional French food, music, and celebrations. That’s why he’s decided to throw a special Bastille Day party at his Lakeway restaurant, Artisan Bistro: to show the people of Austin a different kind of Independence Day.

Artisan, a French bistro, wine bar and bakery located at 900 Ranch Road 620S in Lakeway, will present a Bastille Day extravaganza on Wednesday, July 14, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The Celebration will include live music, dancing, games (such as pétanque, a bocce-like lawn bowling game), food, wine, and setups from local vendors. Chef d’Andrea will present French cooking demos, and Artisan wine buyer Mike Bryan will hold a France vs. Texas wine tasting. The Bastille Day Celebration is open to Francophiles of all ages.

“People in France come together for Bastille Day in much the same way we do here for the Fourth of July—there are parades, parties, and festivals, and people eat, drink, and celebrate,” d’Andrea says. “We want to share that spirit with the people of Austin.”

ABOUT ARTISAN BISTRO:
Artisan is a French bistro, bakery and wine bar. We serve lunch and dinner Wednesday through Saturday and brunch on Sundays. (We are closed on Mondays, and Tuesday evenings are reserved for private parties or special events such as cooking classes and wine tastings.) Chef d’Andrea works alone in the kitchen, handling all prep, cooking, and much of the cleaning himself. Everything at Artisan is made from scratch using traditional French techniques and cooking methods, and every food item sold here is handled exclusively by the chef from start to finish. Become our fan on Facebook or follow us on Twitter at @ArtisanBistro!

ABOUT CHEF CESIDIO D’ANDREA:
Chef Cesidio d’Andrea’s passion for cooking began at a very early age in his family kitchen, and there was no doubt in anyone’s mind he would pursue it professionally. Shortly after his culinary studies and his nomination as a finalist of the highly regarded “Meilleur Apprentis de France” contest, Cesidio began his career in some of Paris’ most prestigious establishments, such as Fauchon and Chez Edgar. He then went on to become executive chef of the Lancaster and San Régis Hotels, both classified as Small Luxury Hotels of the World™. For the past decade, he has been in business for himself, first with his restaurant, La Place, and then with a catering business with two successful locations in Normandy, where he also created a small cooking school at the Chateau de Miromesnil (www.chateaumiromesnil.com). D’Andrea has received numerous accolades and has been regularly featured on French television and in magazines such as Elle, Saveur, and Côté Ouest. Today, he is proud to be serving Austin as the chef of Artisan Bistro, and he enjoys working with the fine local products at his disposal.

ABOUT MIKE BRYAN:
Mike Bryan has been working in restaurants for over 12 years, but has found his passion and calling in alcoholic beverages, specifically wine. He has served as the wine buyer for the Mansion at Judges' Hill Restaurant, Cork and Company, Wildwood Wine and Spirits, Fion Wine Pub and Bistro, and now, Artisan. He loves pairing wines and foods, and has consulted on wine lists throughout Austin and hosted wine dinners at several restaurants in Austin over the years. Having completed the Introductory Sommelier Course through the Court of Master Sommeliers, he will continue to study and plans to complete the Certified Sommelier course sometime in the next year. One day, Mike hopes to study viticulture and become a winemaker.

Austin music fans are looking forward to
The Alex Coke Rich Harney Quartet
on June 24, 2010 at The Elephant Room.
Featuring Rich Harney ( piano) & Alex Coke (sax and flutes),
the band's original tunes, impeccable time and taste,
and smokin' sound,
promise an unforgettable evening of great jazz.

As one of the bravest and most diversified talents
of the Austin/ Amsterdam music scenes, Alex Coke
has explored everything from Be-Bop to Huddie Ledbetter and beyond.
Coke's multifarious bands include the legendary post-bop quintet,
The Worthy Constituents.
A collaboration with Harney, the late Martin Banks and the late AD Mannion, The Worthy Constituents won The Best Unsigned Bands Contest from Musician Magazine in 1990.
Amidst many other projects, Coke's latest CD, "Its Possible",
was released on VoxLox Records in 2009.

Rich Harney, a prolific pianist and composer, has been
illuminating the Austin jazz scene as one of its brightest stars for many years.
His talents as pianist, composer, and vocalist have gained him acclaim from musicians as one of Austin's best kept secrets and from the Austin American-Statesman as “one of Austin’s most valuable musical resources.”
Harney's 2005 release, Soul Prayers, featured Coke & Harney collaborating on new and traditional spirituals and Aardvark Records brought their formidable talents together yet again on Harney's last release, Where Love Begins ( 2008).

As members of a musical partnership that spans many decades,
an evening with Harney & Coke is all ways an opportunity to hear jazz at its best. For the upcoming concert at the Elephant Room,
expect many original compositions as well as a few tried and true classics.

Jonathan Clay's Highly Anticipated Second Album To Be Released On June 15, 2010

Born from years of watching his father play the guitar, Jonathan Clay’s music has been a perfect example of evolution. His newest collection of songs could be described as abstractly as Al Greene meets Tom Petty. Refusing to be pigeon-holed, Clay has drawn on elements of Blues, Rock, and Soul, as well as his Texas southern roots. His past studio recordings have been heard on MTV’s The Hills,The Real World, Newport Harbor, The Freshman, ABC’s Lincoln Heights, The Lifetime Network, and the WB. With three years maturity and artistic growth under his belt, his upcoming album is poised to deliver. In 2009, Clay travelled to Nashville to work in the studio with Producer Kevin Kadish (Jason Mraz, Stacy Orrico) and Mixing Engineeer Jeff Juliano (John Mayer, John Butler Trio, Stephen Kellog). His highly anticipated second album “Everything She Wants” will be released on iTunes June 15th, 2010.

Jonathan Clay grew up in a rural town of Magnolia, Texas. He got his first taste of stardom when he landed the role of the “Tin-Man” in his elementary school’s rendition of “The Wizard of Oz.” More embarrassed by the thought of the silver costume, he had no idea that singing on stage would eventually become something he loved to do.

Jonathan’s stint in school musicals was short-lived, and when his freshman year of high school rolled around, he put music aside to begin playing basketball. He was heavily involved in sports until his sophomore year when he tore a ligament in his ankle. What he didn’t know then was that this injury would come to shape the rest of his life. Growing up with a father who plays four instruments gave him the inspiration to pick up the guitar. By senior year of high school, writing songs began to peak his interest. He eventually bought his own recording gear and put together a modest bedroom recording setup. It was at that point that Jonathan Clay’s path was truly set in motion.

At 18, Jonathan moved out of his parent’s home to attend college at Texas State University. While in college, he met a friend who was studying Sound Recording Technology. The duo got the idea to take a shot at recording an EP, and in between classes, they achieved their goal. Majoring in communications, Jonathan was doing nothing more than going through the motions. At the age of 20, a frustrated Clay dropped out to pursue music full-time. Armed with a 7 track demo, he put together an independent tour with two other artists, playing 28 shows in 31 days around the western U.S.

In 2007, Clay was offered a development deal with Atlantic records and made the decision to move to New York. During his time there, he traveled extensively and worked with writers from London to Los Angeles. Due largely in part to creative differences, Jonathan eventually parted ways with Atlantic. The timing of the deal may not have been perfect, but the trial-by-fire education Clay received is something that benefits him still today. Towards the end of 2007, Jonathan moved back to Texas and took up residency in Austin. In between records, Jonathan released “The Acoustic Sessions” in 2008. What started out as a side project soon picked up an endorsement by Levi’s Jeans and received over 140,000 downloads. 2009 was a year Jonathan devoted to developing his sound, and carving out his identity. He surrounded himself with a band, and has since started playing full band shows under the title of “Jonathan Clay and The Heartless”. Trading in the acoustic guitar for a brass slide, a resonator, and a Gibson 335, you get the sense that he’s truly listening to (and playing from) his soul. Experience a full band show and he just might make a believer out of you.

Jonathan Clay will be performing at Momo's in Austin on July 9, 2010 at 8pm to celebrate his CD release. To check out his music, please visit jonathanclay.com for more information.

Songs & Stories to offer songwriter spectacular featuring Bruce Robison in Boerne on June 5

The 2010 Cibolo Nature Center’s Songs & Stories outdoor concert series in Boerne continues June 5 with Brandon’s Revue, a benefit for the Cibolo Nature Center featuring Bruce Robison, Susan Gibson, Matt Harlan and The McKay Brothers in this “All-star Americana Bash.”

Among the first rank of Texas songwriters, Bruce Robison’s clear-eyed, deeply felt songs reflect his love and respect for the traditions of country music. Tim McGraw (“Angry All the Time”), the Dixie Chicks (“Travelin’ Soldier”) and George Strait (“Wrapped”) have each achieved No. 1 status for their versions of his music.

Susan Gibson writes folk rock with a country edge, with well-thought-out lyrics and pure-and-simple music. Her song “Wide Open Spaces” was made famous by the Dixie Chicks. Houston-based Matt Harlan is a folksinger/songwriter/guitar-picker reminiscent of a young Springsteen, who counts Townes Van Zandt among his influences. The McKay Brothers offer a blend of alt-country, old-time country and Tejano/conjunto – the best of all of them.

Brian Cutean in Austin: GUITARRED AND FEATHERED CD RELEASE

BRIAN CUTEAN's
GUITARRED AND FEATHERED CD RELEASE
SUN. MAY. 16,
4:30-7pm
CAFÉ CAFFEINE
909 W. Mary St. 78704
cafe´caffeine
QTN on the web

Brian Cutean was a mainstay of the the Austin music landscape in the 80’s and early 90s, regularly featured at places like Chicago House, Maggie Mae’s, The Cactus Café, The Other Side, Folkville and other venerable venues.
Now based in the Pacific Northwest, he performs, writes and tours, making a Texas trip once a year in Spring.

The Austin concert this year is celebrating his new wordless guitar album, Guitarred and Feathered, just released this March.
The concert is Sunday May 16 at Café Caffeine, 909 W. Mary.
The concert is from 4:30-7pm and all ages are welcome.
Tickets are $5 - $10 sliding scale and no one will turned away for lack of funds.

Brian will be accompanied by long time sideman, Austin bassist Robert Vignaud.

After five albums and nearly 30 years of award-winning
songwriting, performing wordplay, metafables and stories,
the Oregon troubadour’s wordless guitar music is music
for mindheartsouls to sing along with.
The new recording is one guitar, a whirl of musical ideas and the sound of hands, wound wires and wood. A breather from a world shrill with opinions, instant message me-me-me blogs and 24 hour news chatter,
Guitarred and Feathered is universal in every language and the stories it tells belong to everyone.

The album is already getting ariplay from more than thirty radio stations around the globe and appeared as album of the week on Amarillo’s High Plains Public Radio in April. Host Johnny Black wrote:

“This week’s A-List CD comes to us from a truly original singer/songwriter, Brian Cutean. His new album, Guitarred and Feathered is entirely instrumental and consists of amazing fingerstyle guitar compositions.”

More Words About Wordlessness:
"Guitarred and Feathered soars with a vast array of interesting, creative ideas that are beautifully presented. I quickly forgave Brian for omitting his uniquely brilliant wordplay as his guitar dances, contemplates and jests with QTN magic."
Mike Meyer, KMHD-fm, Oregon Public Broadcasting

"Guitarred & Feathered is a pleasant surprise from Brian Cutean. Many singer/ songwriters’ ability as musicians are often overshadowed by their focus on writing and singing. This instrumental album shows another side of this musician who can really play guitar and does it well. The album does not sound like he is trying to showcase that talent as much as trying to write great songs where the guitar is the voice instead of his singing voice. Plenty of fine playing too… Highly recommended."
Terry Currier, Owner, Music Millennium Records

"Brian is one of those rare guitarists who possesses a 'signature touch' that can be recognized in a moment. That touch makes no secret of his love affair with the guitar and it bubbles up in each delightful composition on this CD...A splendid piece of work that will always be a jewel in my collection."
Kelly Mulhollan, Musician, from Still on the Hill

"Brian QTN is a wandering wordplay troubadour whose crafty lyrics and verbal punnery deflects attention from his soulful and sprightly guitar work. At times soothing, at times jaunty and whimsical, QTN’s solo guitar is like a soft feather bed that tickles your sweet spot while welcoming you home."
Lisa Lepine, ProMOTION

"QTN is the guitarist with one foot in the groove!"
DE Knight, Seraphic Park

Songs from Guitarred and Feathered are posted for listening at Myspacemyspace.com/QTNstrumentals.
BLOWOUT CONCERT, PRO LACROSSE, ONE TOUR--LXM512 presents Carolina Liar, L.A.X, The Bright Light Social Hour

AUSTIN, Texas - On April 10th, the Live Music Capital of the World will be the backdrop for a
new breed of entertainment, combining the fastest growing sport in the country with cutting-edge
musical performances by local and national bands.
Bringing together 40 of the world’s best lacrosse players in a thrilling match up of
strength and endurance, followed by a blowout concert series, the LXM PRO Tour puts a new
spin on America’s oldest sport. Inspired by the X Games and Dew Tour model, LXM hopes to
introduce lacrosse and its rising stars to mainstream audiences, much like how the X Games
catapulted Shaun White and Tony Hawk into the spotlight.
The all-day action packed event kicks off at noon at St. Stephen’s Episcopal School, with
the “Lone Star Showdown,” Texas vs. Texas A&M in one of the oldest college rivalries in the
country. Afterwards, the pros take the field with a roster that includes such superstars as fourtime
All-American and arguably the best attackman of his era, Joe Walters and 3-time All-
American & NCAA Player of the Year, Kyle Harrison.
Before the pro lacrosse game, there will be a special presentation by LIVESTRONG
Young Leadership Cancer Council Member and LXM pro lacrosse player Brendan Shook, who
will present the LIVESTRONG Manifesto to the Thompson Family, in memory and honor of
Jim Thompson, who recently passed away from cancer. Thompson was an active member of
Westlake Youth Lacrosse, Westlake High School Lacrosse and the father of one of top Austin’s
top freshman lacrosse players, Tanner Thompson. LIVESTRONG will have a booth at the event
so spectators can learn more about the work they do for cancer survivors worldwide and ways to
get involved in the fight against cancer. All players and spectators will receive LIVESTRONG
wristbands.
When the whistle blows and the pro game on the field ends, the real party begins on-stage
with the foot-stomping beats of The Bright Light Social Hour--recently named Austin’s Best
Indie Band at this year’s Austin Music Awards.
LXM PRO TourNext up, L.A.X’s heart-thumping dance party--blending house, electro and R&B to create
a unique sound that has quickly captivated Austin’s music scene.
Headlining the festival and performing their smash hits “Show Me What I’m Looking
For” and “It’s Not Over,” Carolina Liar’s mesmerizing melodies have earned them international
exposure.
After a highly successful inaugural event in Orange County last November, LXM 512
(Austin, TX) is already creating a lot of buzz, with expected celebrity guests including members

Venue: Northwest Hills United Methodist Church, 7050 Village Center Drive, Austin 78731
Tickets: $20 regular; $10 seniors/students; Free for ICMCA members.
"His music seizes rather than dazzles..", "who says magicians need a wand to cast a spell..",

Purbayan has learned Sitar from his father Parthapratim Chatterjee - disciple of Pt Nikhil Banerjee

His music combines the tone and richness of the Nikhil Banerjee style and a contemporary touch of his own
urbane sensitivity. He is also an astounding vocalist in his own right.
Purbayan has performed in the following prestigious venues in his international career spanning 25 years:
Queen Elizabeth Hall, London, Sydney Opera House, Ted Baxter Hall, Berlin Esplanade Theatres, Singapore
Adelaide Festival Centre, Theatre de la Ville. Paris Salle Gaveau, Paris Palais de Beaux Arts, Brussels
