The concert will also be captured in high-definition multi-track audio by Daniel McNeill for a future live record release.
THE DETAILS:
• Tuesday, April 9, 2013
• Doors open at 9pm, concert begins at 10pm
• Free Admission

Mrs. Glass was born in Iowa in 1985. He hitchhiked to New Orleans as a teenager and moved to Austin after Hurricane Katrina. You can categorize his voice and style of playing as a fusion of delta blues and pop. His crew is comprised of bassist/keyboardist Ivan Evangelista and drummer, Ian Fry. If Son House had a child with Janis Joplin, the result would be Mrs. Glass. Mrs. Glass released his first full length album in January 2013. It is available at Waterloo Records. He holds weekly residencies at The White Horse (every Tuesday at 10pm) and The Blackheart (every Thursday at 10pm).
"One of Austin's best guitarists, Mrs. Glass, [is] a sharp-dressed picker with a deep microphone moan that will make you want to move here just for his Tuesday night residency." - Kevin Curtin, (Austin Chronicle)
"Anyone who does not like that (Mrs. Glass) is just not listening." -John Aielli (KUTX 98.9)
"What we have here from Mrs. Glass is a rock ‘n’ soul blowout, a blaze of rock/pop dosed with shots of blues and loads of grit." -Laurie Gallardo (KUTX 98.9)

Classic rock, as in “C-Rock,” is what this band is all about. Their play list includes artists Dwight Yoakum, Pat Benatar, Taylor Swift, Twisted Sister, Jimi Hendrix, Robert Palmer, Bonnie Raitt and the Rolling Stones, which may not seem like an entirely classic-rock lineup, but that’s how the songs come out of the C-Rock Band.

Plucking her custom-built charango, Latin-folk songstress Gina Chavez sets the mood for lyrical scenery, but it's the folkloric "Embrujo" of her voice that sears the memory. Since the release of her 2007 debut album, Hanging Spoons, Chavez has toured with The Kills and Grace Potter & the Nocturnals, shared the stage with Ozomatli, Grupo Fantasma, and Del Castillo, and represented the City of Austin on tour in Japan and on the 2011 Austin Music Vol. 10 compilation. National Public Radio touted her one of eight "New Latin Artists at SXSW" and her music as a "perfect mix of Latin, folk and bluegrass." Chavez recently returned from 8 months of mission work in El Salvador and established Austin 4 El Salvador, a college scholarship fund for girls she lived and worked with in a gang-dominated part of San Salvador.
SXSW March 16 2012: Legendary rock group The Nerves reunite for concert featuring Paul Collins & Peter Case

South By Southwest is one of only a few music festivals capable of delivering the unthinkable. SXSW 2012 has officially announced the showcase on March 16th, for a full-band reunion of The Nerves, featuring founding members Paul Collins and Peter Case. Although The Nerves disbanded in 1977, they have continued to inspire new generations of indie rockers, hipsters, classic rockers and punks; their songs have been covered by the likes of Cat Power, Green Day, Def Leppard, Blondie and L7. In 2008, it was rumored that pre-orders for The Nerves' "One Way Ticket" CD reissue compilation outsold the ill-fated Guns 'N Roses' "Chinese Democracy" album. Ironically, Collins' guitarist for this tour also plays with Tommy Stinson, from Guns 'N Roses and The Replacements.
With an increased demand for The Nerves' music, longtime friends and musical partners, Paul Collins and Peter Case have declared a reunion tour paying tribute to their respective bands The Nerves, The Breakaways, The Beat and The Plimsouls. The touring band lineup for the tour is augmented by members of The Paul Collins Beat, offering audiences with a full-band electric showcase. Guitarist Tim Schweiger will replace Jack Lee who is not part of the Nerves tour. Schweiger also performs with Tommy Stinson of The Replacements.
The Nerves formed the same year as The Ramones, in 1974, making their own self-released records, booking their own tours and driving in their own customized station wagon, which belonged to Paul Collins. Ironically, The Nerves toured with The Ramones and performed for the troops on the USO tour. The Nerves started hosting concerts of punk rock notables such as The Germs, The Dils and The Weirdos. They rented space in a Los Angeles movie studio at the corner of Sunset and Gower and named it the Hollywood Punk Palace. Hosted and operated by The Nerves, people would pay a small cover to see some of the latest regional punk rock acts.
Case and Collins' friend Eddie Money co-wrote Let Me Into Your Life with Paul Collins. These musical friendships later helped Paul Collins and Peter Case when they disbanded The Nerves and The Breakaways to form spinoff groups The Beat (Collins) and The Plimsouls (Case). The Paul Collins Beat were featured on the Caddyshack motion picture soundtrack with Journey and Kenny Loggins, while The Plimsouls were featured as a performing band in the 80s Nicholas Cage film "Valley Girl."
Fast forward to the present day and you have two separate groups with Peter Case & Band and The Paul Collins Beat. Peter Case has a large adult following in the world of blues, folk music and singer/songwriters. Case has won words of praise from Bruce Springsteen and the Grammys.
With support from punk artists such as members of The Ramones, Paul Collins Beat has re-established their place in music and has a large fanbase consisting of teens, twenty-somethings and thirty-somethings. Collins owns a partnered booking agency called The Beat Army, which focuses on booking/discovering new rock bands and organizing tours around the world.
For many years, fans in the audiences of Peter Case and Paul Collins would request songs from their group The Nerves. It's hard to categorize The Nerves in one particular genre and further proof would be the cross-genre cover versions of their songs as done by modern indie rock artists such as Cat Power and Def Leppard.
Recently, The Nerves' music received more attentionfrom mainstream audiences, including genre-crossing covers of their songs by Cat Power and Def Leppard. In 2011, the band Green Day launched the American Idiot Broadway Musical Production and began performing the song "Walking Out On Love," written by Paul Collins and recorded more than once with his bands The Nerves/Breakaways and The Beat. The Nerves continue to be worshipped by new generations of rockers and music lovers worldwide. Their songs have been covered by the likes of Cat Power, Blondie, L7 and Def Leppard. The Nerves formed in 1974 and embraced the DIY approach of funding their own self-promoted tours, studio recordings and album pressings. The Nerves were comprised of Peter Case, Paul Collins and Jack Lee. With the rise of punk rock during the 1970s, The Nerves managed to tour with The Ramones and other notables such as Devo and Pere Ubu. The 1976 self-titled Nerves EP vinyl caught the attention of Deborah Harry and Blondie, who were inspired to record their own cover version of the song Hanging On The Telephone. The Nerves toured in a black '69 Ford LTD Wagon, hauling their own instruments and equipment from state to state. With Collins as their manager and booking agent, The Nerves later performed for the troops as part of the United Services Organization. More tour dates found the band performing in the U.S. and Canada. The Nerves eventually made the decision to open their own club, The Hollywood Punk Palace by renting the dilapidated basement in the tacky movie studio at the corner of Sunset and Gower in Los Angeles. It was here, The Nerves booked numerous punk bands including The Weirdos, The Dils, The Zippers, The Zeros, the Screamers, and many others. Due to lack of interest from record companies, The Nerves disbanded in 1977, although their music continues to inspire new generations worldwide. Lee pursued a solo career, while Case and Collins briefly formed their own post-Nerves group with The Breakaways and recorded a collection of songs that was recently released as a collection by Alive Naturalsound, the same label responsible for The Nerves' One Way Ticket, a complete collection. Collins later formed The Beat and toured with The Police and The Cure during the 70s and 80s. Case assembled The Plimsouls, another guitar-oriented rock group with a sound similar to The Nerves.

AMFM Magazine, Serrano’s Restaurant and Musical Services Group present Margo Rey at Serrano’s Symphony Square March 14th, starting at 8 p.m.

It’s a free show at Austin’s best kept secret, our very own “Riverwalk” type ampitheater a few blocks north of downtown on Red River. Margo’s husband, comedian Ron White will be in attendance watching his wife sing “Let the Rain,” which charted at #17 on Billboard’s Dance Charts. Ron thinks “Margo creates the sexiest music on the planet,” and we tend to agree.

Come join us and AMFM’s own Reno Perez will also entertain you with some surprise musical guests, and his own flavor of the blues. The amphitheatre is surrounded by historic buildings, including the headquarters of the Austin Symphony, Serrano’s Restaurant, and the Mercantile Room, which used to house one of the oldest New Orlean’s style jazz clubs in Austin (an historic vibe permeates this building, legislators would come down from the hill and unwind here and it’s the purported scene of a gun fight…by said legislators. This is Texas you know.) There’s plenty of parking, the accoustics are astounding and the weather is beautiful this time of year, come join us.
